Feeling Fatigued….?

Do you feel fatigued, are suffering with poor sleep and feeling exhausted after doing simple things?  If so, you’re not alone.  These are some of the long list of symptoms that people with Long Covid have reported experiencing which are having an impact on their day to day and return to normal life.   Whether before Covid you were fit and healthy or not, the impact seems to be significant.

We’re here to help

Touched and challenged by the people who have shared their Long Covid story either on the news or in person, my colleague and friend, Nikki Harris and I, who are both physios, wanted to help.  We have been busy reading, watching and learning about the journey of Long Covid and the approaches that are being used to help people get back on their feet.

Great information to assist

There is a great deal of information out there if you’re looking for some help.

Something that we’ve found particularly helpful is this series of videos.  They have been developed by the AWRC at Sheffield Hallam University in partnership with the CRESTA clinic at Newcastle Hospitals Foundation Trust, Newcastle University, and University of Northumbria.  It’s recommended that you start with video 1 and work through the series in order, taking breaks in between each one and pacing how much you watch in one go.

The videos cover the following topics:

Video 1 – https://youtu.be/CIpXGB-8DWI An introduction to the CRESTA team and fatigue

Video 2 – https://youtu.be/hIGYdjcZi7M Managing your energy and daily activity

Video 3 – https://youtu.be/nIcOVUqQMfI Looking after yourself during your recovery

Video 4: – https://youtu.be/HNFfrVUpdK0 Activity and fatigue

Video 5: – https://youtu.be/6FueYwVeI3w Question & Answer session on common issues for Covid-19 recovery

I hope you found these videos helpful and you feel better equipped for the journey ahead.

We appreciate that for some people information is key and self management not a problem.    However if you’re anything like me, having someone to guide you through the stages and ‘hold your hand’, offer advice and support is really helpful.  This is where Nikki and I come in.   Whether you’re new to having Long Covid or been struggling for a while we are here to help.
